Awareness - Education - Fundraising

We have three aims:

• to promote World Suicide Prevention Day, (on September 10, 2007);
• to raise awareness of the present suicide epidemic; and
• to provide funds for Sacred Heart Mission's suicide prevention and counselling programs

We need to make a difference.

Suicide is always a tragedy. It is a tragedy for the individual who can see no alternative. It is a tragedy for loved ones left behind. It is a tragedy for all. It is a regrettable and terrible fact that most of us will be affected by suicide.

Suicide is a way out. Most often it is an extreme attempt to escape from pain, emotional and physical, rather than from life itself.

Suicide is individual. The causes differ, just as individuals differ. There is no one explanation.
